Chinese Taipei energy supply's future will be tight. With the demand increase on one side and policies to promote an environmental-friendly land on the other, the power supply will undergo an energy transition and consequently face risks of power shortage. To overcome those challenges, Smart Grid technology has been widely implemented. In Taipei City, public housing has been selected as ideal field to better include citizens into energy-saving services and stabilization of the power system. By opening the hardware and software infrastructures of the living space, citizens are converted into prosumers that can participate to the demand response and bidding program through the Aggregator Platform. The development of the aggregator business model, Along with the liberalization of the electricity market place, will expand the Virtual Power Plant that could solve the challenges and achieve the vision of Smart Taipei. This policy thus aims to create a win-win-win situation, for Taipei City Government, Taiwan Power Company and the citizens.
