The most noticeable plan in Korea’s Smart Grid project is the construction of a Smart Grid Test-bed in Jeju Island. The Korean government selected Jeju on June 2009 as the location for Smart Grid Test-bed.
Jeju Smart Grid will become the world’s largest Smart Grid community that allows the testing of the most advanced Smart Grid technologies and R&D results, as well as the development of business models.
A total of 64.5 billion won will be invested between 2009 and 2013. About 10 consortiums in five areas will participate in testing technologies and developing business models.
