The China Green Building Network was launched in March 2008 as a public-private partnership to administer the country’s new indigenous green building labeling system. The organization’s responsibilities also include helping to police buildings, and improving general public awareness of the importance and methods of energy-efficient building.
China’s construction market builds nearly half the world’s total new buildings every year, and by 2020 will account for 40 percent of the country’s total energy consumption.
